The Waterside Building was completed in 2006 but was never occupied, despite its numerous positive features – it was the first “green” building in Brussels. It was formerly the property of the Irish O’Mahony holding company. It has a surface area of 12,000 sq. m. and is located in the North urban district, along the Willebroek canal, facing the Tour & Taxis site, in a booming neighbourhood. It will be occupied by the Directorate General of the Penitentiary Services of the Belgian Ministry of Justice (EPI DG) for a minimum confirmed period of 9 years. The transaction amounted to approximately 19.4 million euros.
